No Brainer

From the beginning, I was not too excited at the idea of making a brain cake for the birthday of a speech pathologist. I was completely convinced that this was this result of someone's corrupt sense of humor, but it all turned out great in the end. I decided that if I were going to do it, I would do it right, and I actually really got into it. I made 2 separate hemispheres of the brain and even color coded all 4 lobes! Luckily the birthday girl really liked it. Who knew?

New Years Resolutions

Not that I'm one for diet resolutions for the New Year, but if I were, I would have lasted about 20 minutes before I broke it. All it took was a hungry friend, 8 cups of oil, and a kick ass donut recipe. So after 90 minutes of standing next to a deep fryer, we have 3 dozen donuts and a dozen cheese sticks to show for it. Damn that food network!

Christmas Eve

Remember when all you worried about was contemplating what your Barbie doll was going to wear? Oh, those were the days. . . this little one is wiped out from the stress of opening crap loads of toys. The perfect christmas.

Beach Bum

It's freaking 50 degrees outside and where do we decide to go? To the beach of course! This is what you do when someone trapped in snow finally returns to the coast and all she wants is dim sum and the ocean.

Baking Marathon

These black and white cookies (which tasted completely off) were just the tip of the baking iceberg from a 7 hour baking marathon. That's right- 7 hours, 5 dozen "everything cookies", 5 dozen dog biscuits, and 4 dozen black and white cookies. Around 1 in the morning, we were a little delirious from a cookie overdose and decided not to make peanut crisps.

Lady Gaga

Oh-my-God. . .
This was the bestest most awesome way to end the year of some pretty great concert experiences. I completely reverted to a 14 year old all over again with my fascination and obsession with Lady Gaga. I was one step away from buying a Gaga poster and pinning it up in my room. (Cue flashbacks of NKOTB pin ups from Teen Beat magazine circa 1991). AWESOME!

Bake Sale

Thanks to my friend Leslie, I am reminded that there are kids with great potential and can benefit from a little help from their mentoring program. So my little contribution to their bake sale were these little snowmen cupcakes. The kids from her school were really cute and worked really hard to raise money.
