Cell Phone Murder

Since it was already a completely crappy work week, it only makes logical sense that I would drop my phone in the street before not just one, but THREE cars run over it. My poor little phone.

Dr. Slump

I recently went to the toy store and decided to resurrect my love of an old Chinese cartoon, Dr. Slump.

Wicked

I tried to sneak some photos of the Orpheum theater when we saw Wicked, but I figured Mieko's Elphaba costume was way cooler. A little bit greener, but cooler.

Trick or Treat

It was my first trick or treat-ing (seriously) and then it was officially halloween when someone gets drunk and almost sets himself on fire.

The Cheesesteak Shop

My search for the perfect cheesesteak continues. . . .Unfortunately the cheesesteak shop was good, but not habit forming.

Wedding!

3 days, 15 pounds of fondant, 3 pounds of almond paste, 10 yards of ribbon, and this is all I have to show for it. But it's definitely worth it.

Jelly Fish

Mini field trip to the academy of science. I love love the jelly fish.

Magic Tupperware

Best tupperware ever! How else am I supposed to pack 3 dozen brownies?

Sausalito

Things kids potentially hate: sand and/or grass.

Snow Patrol

A night of chicken and waffles, Plain White T's, and Snow Patrol. If you haven't been to the Fox Theater, it's amazing!

Lookie Loos

They were shooting a commercial of some sort next to our building, but I thought the lookie loos were more interesting hanging out the window.

Colors!

I've been a little obsessed with color lately and took these shots while wandering downtown on the freaking wettest day of the season so far. Look how absolutely pretty the kitchen aids are! I was a little early going to Sur La Table, so the only logical thing to do was shop for home items at Macys.

I Heart Giada

One of my favorite dilemnas is deciding what to cook combined with my weekend ritual of watching Food Network in the morning. This weekend, Giada made meatballs, so I made meatballs baked with ziti. Plus, nothing says Fall like a pie in the oven. Thank goodness for friends that volunteer to be guinea pigs.

Squatting Debate

No comment needed.

Prisma- Taste the Rainbow

I'm stuck at work on a Saturday and this box of prisma colors is the most interesting thing to take a pic of. I'm tempted to sell them on Craigslist for $2 a marker.

Bosom Ball

You may only know her as the girl who sings the Rogaine song, but Ingrid was out to raise money for breast cancer. I love her cause she ended up singing the theme songs to Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Full House.

Giant Birthday

This little guy turned 1! Amazing how much frosting you can get all over your hands and face in only 5 minutes.

Taiwanese Cravings

A good friend is a little homesick for anything and everything Taiwanese, so I took this pic with dumplings to cheer her up. And since today is also the Chinese Mid Autumn celebration of the moon, I'm gonna stuff my face with some moon cake.

More Orange

An accidental visit to the Oakland Farmer's Market helped in my quest for orange photos. I was recently inspired by Tyler Florence making chicken cordon bleu- I substituted prosciutto for ham, pesto jack for the traditional swiss, and used the extra proscuitto to add to my brussel sprouts. I still have yet to experiment with making a parsnip puree, which seems to be the trendy thing nowadays.

Whip It

What's better than Drew Barrymore + rolle derby? Free Drew Barrymore + roller derby movie! If anything is going to inspire you to want to put on roller skates, knee pads, and clothes line some b^$#! over a padded railing, it would be this movie! Awesome and cute.

Knock Knock

Remember those cheesy knock knock jokes? Knock knock. Who's there? Orange. Orange who? Orange you glad to see me? Anyhoo, my mini photo projects to be posted will be centered on a single primary color. The color of this week is orange. You'd be surprised how hard it is to find orange, non-safety/construction hazard items in the built environment around you. Next week- red!!!

Now and Zen

Another gorgeous day out in the park (sunburned shouders optional). Corn dogs, Colbie Caillat, and a few crazies in the crowd. No one really wants to know why this chick is blue.

Thumbprint Cookies

Picture it: Me, on a bus, holding a balloon sword, a balloon diamond ring, and 3 regular balloons tangled around my wrist. Then, add two kids and a bag of groceries. Recipe for disaster? Not at all. We managed to overload ourselves with free crap at the Moon Fest Street Fair and still had time to make thumbprint cookies.

Movie Fest

These little red bean rice balls saved the day! You can't have a mini movie marathon without dessert! Plus, I like how they form a subliminal little mochi head.

Beignet Taste Test

Two days, and two types of beignets. Of course the rest of us ate our beignets in a civilized manner, whereas some chose to stuff hot, deep fried dough in her mouth before going back to work with powdered sugar and/or cocaine all over her face and shirt. Can't take some people no where.

Bubba Gump

We had a Bubba Gump moment on Wednesday as we shared 6 pounds of shrimp and crawfish. I swear, my hands still smell like shrimp. Something seems inherently wrong about ordering food by the pound and having it served in plastic bags. At least the beignets and ice cream at the end helped reduce the lingering shrimp taste in my mouth. Garlic and butter shrimp, boiled shrimp, shrimp rolls. . . .

Baby Shower Cupcakes

You think something is wrong if you wake up at 3 in the morning to draw bears and design baby shower cupcakes? My oven is on overload this week.

Witness Protection Program

I'm sad cause I can't take a decent picture of what I intended. I swear my neighbor down the street is a participant in the witness protection program. I'm scared that if I take his photo he'll have me fitted for cement shoes in the Bay. He walks his gargantuan bull mastiff in the middle of the street, or ties him up to the light pole on the corner while the owner washes his Benz in his velour track suit.

Union Square

Ever gotten stopped by mall security for taking photos through the store windows? Me neither. . . at least not yet.

Mah Jong Cake

Here's a repeat of an oldie but a goodie. For my mom's birthday (which I accidentally forgot last week) I think I more than made up for it with a cake of her favorite past time- gambling.

Volleyball Sweatshop

Somewhere in the world, there must be someone else out there at 2 in the morning drawing volleyballs. Who knows? Somewhere in Thailand, small children are using their nimble fingers making volleyballs, and here I am, in my self started sweatshop makng volleyballs. At least they're edible (I hope).
Here's a brief play by play of for my mini chocolate volleyballs filled with nutella. How can that be bad?
